Hole-In-The-Head DiseaseHole in the head cause the sudden death of fish. It is also called HITH or HEXAMITA. It is curable if treated in early stage. (A.S.A.P)
Cause :
- Low water temperatures (< 25°C) are ideal breeding grounds for ICH
- Poor water quality.
- The most common way Flowerhorns get ICH is when they are feed live or frozen food that has already been contaminated with the parasite.
- Small pits and pimples grows on the fish’s head. As time pass it grow and form bigger pits.
- It is white in color, and sometimes mucous are visible around them.
- In addition to losing weight, becoming lethargic, and losing their appetites, the fish will produce white, stringy feces.
- Direct water treatment is not necessary because the parasite already stay inside the fish skin.
- 1st step do water change about 50%.
- set up temperatute to 30 degree celcius.
- add right amount of salt & give fungus treatment to avoid the disease to become worst.
- add Ocean Free internal medicine or use Bacta by Cz Aquaproducts.
- Quarantine fish about 2-3 weeks in single tank.
